Quincy Apt 2016: Furnished housing for a Mayo patient and family

February 2, 2016

February 2016

Johnston House, Quincy Apartment

This was our first stay here. John was going to have surgery at Mayo Clinic. But things changed and we were ready to return home a little earlier than planned. It was good to have a place for our girls to “move” in with us for a few days.

We enjoyed the neighbor’s dogs, the rabbits every morning, and the snow. We may be back for the surgery they had planned, tests and time will tell. God has been good to us.

Thank you Serenity House Network, for your thoughtfulness and for the fresh bread; it was great.

Scott Apt 2016: A furnished Rochester apartment becomes a patient’s short-term “home”

February 2, 2016

Alwood House, Scott Apartment

Thank you, thank you, thank you! You made a difficult time so much better. We felt like we were at home. It was a warm and comforting feeling to come home after a long day at the Pain Rehabilitation Center, to a comfortable and relaxing home. We felt like a weight was lifted from us.

Thanks again for providing such a wonderful home. We are certain that it helped in our recovery.

Blessings to all,

Spencer and Patty (Michigan)

Evy’s House 2016: A stem cell transplant patient’s housing experience

January 29, 2016

December 19, 2015 – January 29, 2016

My husband was diagnosed with multiple myeloma in August 2015. After four months of chemotherapy, he was referred to Mayo Clinic here in Rochester for a stem cell transplant. After two weeks of testing he received the green light and began his journey Christmas Eve day with a central line placement.

I cannot convey how nice it was to come home to Evy’s House each night after the rat race of Mayo, put our feet up, and relax. It was also nice to have home-like amenities as well as the convenience to get to Mayo in short order if needed. We were also fortunate to have family visit and stay with us rather than renting a hotel in town.

As I write today, January 29, 2016, I am packing up our belongings to head home to North Dakota. My husband is doing quite well with his recovery and is getting stronger day by day.

Hats off to the folks, especially to Greg & Jodie, at Serenity House Network. You have opened your doors and your hearts to help people in need. God Bless!

Sincerely,

Doug & Lana Zimmerman (Bismarck, ND)

Serenity House Network,

Thank you so much for making us feel so welcome. The Welcome Bread was so kind and the volunteers who offered to help wherever needed was so nice to know we had help if necessary. It’s wonderful to have all the comforts of home during our stay, to be able to cook and have room for family and friends to visit.

Thank you for all you do!

You’re a blessing.

City View Sanctuary 2016: A home away from home for Mayo Clinic patients

January 20, 2016

December 1, 2015 – January 20, 2016

Serenity House Network has been such a blessing to myself and my caregivers. It is a comfort to know I have a home away from home.

The many coupons and gifts were so special and meant a lot to us. Being away from home and family during this time of year was difficult but the thoughtfulness of Serenity House Network and their friends certainly lightened the load.

I’m not sure I can express my thanks adequately, but God has truly blessed us.

May God be with you as you reach out to others in a special way during a difficult time.

In Christian love,

Georgia Narrow

Baptist Hospitality House 2016: Lodging near Mayo for a kidney transplant patient, donor and families

January 8, 2016

December 12, 2015 – January 8, 2016

A kidney transplant in mid-December was going to make for a very difficult Christmas this year — we knew that. What we never guessed was how good it would be! The Baptist Hospitality House of Serenity House Network made it possible for the donor and recipient families to stay together which meant that Dad (recipient), Mom, daughter, son-in-law (donor) and grandson shared Christmas for the first time in eight years.

As if that weren’t enough, we received a delicious loaf of Welcome Bread and goodies honoring a birthday and anniversary during our stay. And in the midst of three surgeries, countless tests, and considerable stress, we were treated to Christmas caroling, a fire truck visit for our grandson, and the biggest snowfall he had ever seen.

Most of all, we felt more than safe and comfortable at Baptist Hospitality House. We felt cared for.

Thank you so much for your beautiful, loving ministry. God bless you!

Pine Tree Place: A home away from home in Rochester, MN for an ALS patient

January 2, 2016

January 2016

Jodie, Greg, and Serenity House Network,

We cannot express what your ministry has meant to us, while in Rochester. Our lives and the lives of our children have been turned upside down with Michael’s diagnosis of ALS. Being so far away from our family for Thanksgiving and Christmas initially seemed like a nightmare but you guys made it so special.

Thank you for Pine Tree Place and for truly giving us a home away from home. Our sons will always remember the fire truck ride through the snow and Christmas carols in the snow. We could not have asked for a more amazing ministry in addition to the kindest community that is Rochester, MN.

We are hopeful that Michael will be included in future trials and to see your smiling faces again. We are eternally indebted to you all. Thank you so much.

p.s. Michael says “Go Broncos!”

Love,
