What to wear

  • Be sure to wear moisture-wicking clothing and socks. These layers will keep you dry and warm.
  • A waterproof outer layer including a warm jacket and insulated bibbed overalls.
  • A warm hat is also good to have for those windy days that are likely during the winter months.
  • Lightweight insulated boots with a Gortex lining to shield against water and to keep you warm.
  • Two pairs of gloves, a heavier pair, and a lighter pair to use when fishing.
  • If you need extra warmth for your hands or feet bring some hand and feet warmers that can be placed inside your shoe or gloves.

Winter fishing at Kentucky Lake requires a few more pieces of equipment. Be sure to have the following:

  • An external heat source is nice to have for extra comfort
  • Lifejackets for your safety and others
